Mapping Hacksby Schuyler Erle, Rich Gibson and Jo Walshtrackgpx2shp.pl and the Mapping Hacks code pageDecember 12th, 2006 by RichIn Mapping Hacks, the book, Schuyler wrote a program to convert a track log in a text file into a Shapefile. We mentioned, perhaps optimistically, that a version to convert a gpx (a GPS XML exchange format) track lot to a shapefile would be on the web site. Optimism while writing is a good, and a scary, thing. I’ve updated track2shp.zip to include trackgpx2shp.pl, the program to convert a gpx file to a shapefile. There are a few other things in the Mapping Hacks code page, and Google Maps Hacks examples on our Google Maps project page. And the Mapping Hacks project page has other bits of goodness.
