Camera Stores in Brooklyn

February 2nd, 2006 by Rich

David Fawcett read
a New York Times article on Shifty camera stores in Brooklyn
. And a friend of his
had a bit of a dodgy time with one of them.

There is a fellow who rides
his bike around Brooklyn taking pictures of Camera stores
, and so David
figured it would make sense to link image with map. He created a map of potentially
shifty camera stores in brooklyn.

updated url: Potentially shifty
camera stores in brooklyn

Looking at the map and the images, the camera store game seems to be to get lots
of dubious names each with the low low price on something , and have all of
those sites feed into one ‘umbrella’ group.

I don’t know if _all_ of those stores operate under questionable ethics. It
would be interesting to link consumer reviews with the map. So if you were
looking at a new store you could dsee that it was near to one of ill-repute.

People shouldn’t be thrown in jail because of guilt by association, but it is
enough to keep me from buying a camera from them…
