Mapping Hacksby Schuyler Erle, Rich Gibson and Jo WalshWe had the Degree Confluence Project…July 12th, 2005 by RichAnd now for something completely different. The Degree Confluence Project aims to collect photos and visitor records of visits to every place on the earth’s surface where degrees of latitude and longitude intersect. Now Geo Project US aims to do the same for intersections of minutes. (Each ‘degree’ of latitude or longitude is divided into 60 minutes. A minute of latitude equals one nautical mile, or 15% more than a regular mile-giving rise to the phrase ‘a mile’s a minute the world round’). There is an Article in Silicaon Valley Watcher that talks about the project, in which the painful, but no doubt meme conquering term ‘flickeriscious’ is used… They are collecting four photos, one in each direction, of as many of the 4,554,000 confluences in the US.
