Web Mapping Illustrated

March 15th, 2005 by Schuyler

Mapping Hacks tech reviewer and all-around GIS hacker Tyler
Mitchell (aka spatialguru) has been working on his own book for O’Reilly,
entitled Web Mapping Illustrated, which will provide a more
traditional O’Reilly-style intro to basic Open Source GIS tools like GDAL and
MapServer. You can peruse some of Tyler’s topical musings on the subject of
GIS and mapping on his O’Reilly Net blog.
We think that the two books will complement each other nicely - which means
you’ll have to run out and get both, of course, when they come out - and so
we’ve invited him to help us keep tabs on the fast-changing world of GIS and
digital mapping on the mappinghacks.com weblog, which he has graciously agreed
to do. Take it away, Tyler!
